Applications should be in writing. No specific form or format is required. Emailing grants in a single file is preferred. Grants are accepted on a rolling basis and are condidered annually. Email complete applications to: grants@homelibraryfoundation.org
Grant applications should include:
-Legal name and full description of the organization or institution making the application, with list of officers and principal staff, including who will implement and manage the grant.
-A clear, concise statement of need for which a grant is requested. In plain, simple, brief language, tell us about the program, why this grant will help and what results you expect. Tell us specifically why this grant is important to your program and the people you serve and how it will be implemented.
-A proposed budget in detail.
-Evidence of tax-exempt status, along with a financial statement for the preceding year.
-To assist in the distribution of books and other forms of reading materials to libraries and community groups with limited resources or abilities to otherwise procure these materials.
-To assist in the support, promotion and development of programs with the goal of combating illiteracy and/or encouraging an interest in reading and the literary arts for all ages.
-To encourage the development of programs relating primarily to literary or cultural topics that utilize various means of communication.
The National Home Library Foundation Board of Trustees gives preference to grant requests from the Washington DC, Maryland & Virginia area.
-Grants are made only to organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to those that do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sexual orientation or gender.
-Grants are not made to individuals, organizations that seek to influence legislation or to intervene in political campaigns, to international organizations or for programs outside the United States.
-Grants are not made for loans, conferences, scholarships, endowments, construction, reception or operating budgets.
Your incentive grant for $1500 will allow us to purchase materials for over 200 adult basic education and English as a Second Language students. Your gift will definitely improve the lives of some very dedicated learners in the Asheville and Buncombe County area. Thank you.
